Kerry Ellis comes to Dreamland

We are delighted to announce that West End leading lady Kerry Ellis will be joining us at Time to Shine Team Dreamland in July 2020. Many from the performing arts world will know the name but, not everyone will know her journey throughout the world of showbiz. Read on to discover how Kerry Ellis has become the superstar she is today!

Kerry Ellis first achieved amazing success in both the West End and Broadway treading the floorboards, playing iconic roles such as Meat in Queen’s We Will Rock You, Elphaba in Wicked and Nancy in Oliver! to name just a few. However, some may not realise that Kerry is also a successful recording artist signed to Universal Decca, achieving chart topping success with her debut album Anthems.  For this album Kerry teamed up with Queen guitar legend Brian May, the album rose to No.10 in the UK pop club charts and led to a major tour ‘Anthems: The Concert’; throughout 2011. The success of the album resulted in numerous TV and radio performances including duets with Barry Manilow and John Barrowman, and appearances on the Royal Variety Show and Loose Women, at G.A.Y and the Queen’s Jubilee Concert, Buckingham Palace.

The list doesn’t stop there Kerry has also sung the National Anthem for the FA Cup match at Wembley Stadium/live on Sky Sports, performed at a sold out tour of Champions of Rock in Sweden, played Svetlana in Chess at the Royal Albert Hall opposite Josh Groban, performed at Thank You For The Music the BBC Radio 2 ABBA concert in Hyde Park, Night of 1000 Voices, The Festival of Remembrance (both Royal Albert Hall) as well as headlining at the BBC Proms in the Park.

Throughout 2012 Kerry’s career continued to shine as she teamed up with Brian May again and performed a new arrangement of ‘I Who Have Nothing’ at the Sanremo Festival in Italy, which was screened, live across Europe, before recording a new version of the well-known song ‘Born Free’, and shooting a documentary highlighting the charity work carried out by the Born Free Foundation in South Africa.

Kerry’s career continued to flourish as she headlined at the 2012 ‘Night of a 1000 voices’, performed and recorded her own Friday Night is Music special for BBC Radio 2, took on a week’s residency at the new Hippodrome venue in Leicester Square and appeared in the feature film Les Misérables. 2012 was a busy year with Kerry headlining at various festivals across the country, starred in the Arena tour of Jeff Wayne’s War of the Worlds alongside Jason Donavan and Ricky Wilson of the Kaiser Chiefs. Summer 2013 was spent on the second leg of the Born Free Tour around the UK and Europe, this coincided with the release of “The Kissing me song” which Kerry co-wrote plus a live album recording of Born Free.

Kerry returned to the floorboards with a two week 20th Anniversary Tour of Rent; playing the role of Mimi as well as also performing her own hugely successful show at the London Palladium in May 2013. Her music career continued to blossom, completing her second album in 2014- a collection of both musical theatre and contemporary tracks. Kerry’s dream of performing her first solo concert at the London Palladium also materialised and culminated in her embarking on a thirteen-date tour across the UK finishing at The Cadogan Hall. The concert celebrated her theatre career to date, singing songs from all the roles she has created and played.

More recently, Kerry took over from Nicole Scherzinger as the role of Grizabella in Cat’s at the London Palladium, has continued her long-term working relationship with Brian May by performing to a 12,000 seat Arena in Verona which was televised across Italy. As well as starting her own radio show on “Encore Radio’, appearing in yet more shows, Murder Ballard at the Arts theatre London, touring with the show Wonderland and working on a new album – all this in addition to appearing at Time to Shine Dreamland 2020 in July!
